Landscapes of Wales by Michael Jackson
Michael Jackson
Tue 01 Apr 2008 - Sat 31 May 2008
Based in Cwmpengraig,South Wales, Michael is constantly exploring the Welsh countryside looking for new opportunities to create black and white images. He shoots mainly late in the evening when the light is at its best, producing subdued but intense images. He uses a Hasselblad 500CM as his main camera, along with a Mamiya Super Press 23 and a plastic Holga 120N with numerous filters.
His current project is based around Poppit Sands - a beach near Cardigan. He is visiting this beach regularly whenever there is a low tide that matches the sun setting. The reasons for choosing this beach are simple - it has a large area with numerous streams and inlets, the access is easy and the parking is free! (off season). At Poppit one never sees the same beach twice - which keeps the whole experience fresh and exciting. Just when Michael thinks that he has taken shots of it from every angle a new opportunity pops up to surprise him, and therefore us!
Finalist for Hasselblad Masters 2008
