Artist Statement

My work explores psychological issues of togetherness and being alone through the re-use of a limited range of materials to produce bodies of work that only exist as memories. I am interested in the presentation of these memories as historical events, which critique both individual associations and cultural metaphors. The work reflects on how history is rewritten by and for each generation and highlights the lack of absoluteness about historical fact. Individual histories and memories are intertwined within the larger social and cultural histories of a particular period. They are influenced by events and attitudes from earlier generations linking the unattainability of the past and its importance to both the present and the future.
